How to Prepare for your Shoot

If you have booked your first boudoir session, get ready for a unique and personal experience. Boudoir is empowering, transformational and has a tendency to be a bit addictive.

It’s ok if a boudoir shoot is totally out of your comfort zone and you never imagined yourself in the boudoir spotlight. That’s why we are here! to guide you along this journey.

Here are a few tips to help you prep for your shoot. We are an inclusive studio. We cater to all bodies and welcome people of all walks of life.

Tip # 1: What should you Wear?

This depends on a few factors and we will discuss outfits during our pre shoot consults.

1.) A few questions to consider when deciding on an outfit:

  • What makes you feel good?

  • What makes me feel like myself?

  • How do I want to feel when I see my final images? Do I want to feel Sexy, Powerful, Submissive, Sporty, Sultry, etc?

2.) Bring a variety of outfits. (At least 2) We may not get to shoot in all of them but we would rather have outfits to choose from.)

Make sure you have one outfit that you feel safe in and we recommend bringing something that makes you feel sexy. This could be an over sized t-shirt, a pair of tight blue jeans or a 3 piece lingerie set.

3.) Remove all tags from the outfits you have chosen, including the permanent tags.

4.) If you are considering an implied nude shoot, please mention this during our consultation. An implied shoot can be exhilarating and we appreciate how vulnerable it can be. We want you to feel completely comfortable and in control, so it is extremely important that we have time to plan. And, You can always change your mind.

Tip #2: You deserve to be Pampered even before you come to your shoot!

1.) Get your nails done!! It’s an easy fix that goes a long way. Chipped or dirty nails can be very distracting in a photograph and they are hard to clean up in post processing.

2.) If you are going to wax, make sure you do so at least 2 to 3 days before your shoot. You want to give your body a few days to settle any bumps or burns. If you don’t wax, that is absolutely fine. Hair is natural and beautiful. We understand it’s a preference. If there are any stray hairs or impermanent imperfections, we can always take care of that in post processing.

3.) Moisturize and hydrate your skin. This will help with any dry skin and usually produces a glow on the skin. It is also easier to apply makeup when the skin is moisturized. Hydration helps with this as well. Drink more water than you usually do a couple of days before the shoot and stay away from alcohol.

4.) Do not use a Tanning Lotion or get a spray tan. This can cause an orange discoloration in your pictures. It’s difficult to retouch and will not be flattering in your images.

Tip #3: What to do on the day of your shoot?

1.) Come hydrated, with a clean and makeup free face. Our hair and makeup artists are trained to work with all hair and skin types. If you have any questions or concerns, please bring them up during our pre planning phone call.

2.) Wear loose fitted clothing to make sure there are no red marks or indents on your skin. This includes hair ties! Do your best to keep them off your wrists, especially during the shoot itself.

3.) We know that you might be nervous about posing, but trust us, we will help you through out the session. We guide and direct you, so you look your best. Stretching before a session can be very helpful. You will be moving a lot!
