Top 12 Most Frequently Asked Questions about Boudoir Photography
What women are asking us when they inquire
Boudoir Photography - Frequently asked questions
The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with us!
1.) Do we share your images?
Our number 1 priority is to make sure our clients feel comfortable. This is SO incredibly important for boudoir. You are trusting us to guard you why you are expressing a vulnerable side of yourself. It can be a life changing experience and that can be nerve wracking in itself! Whether you are learning to love your body or you are taking photos to share with your spouse; no matter the reason, you have the final say as to whether or not we can share them. If there are images we would like to share, we will ask your permission first, and only share what you are comfortable with. There is no expectation or pressure from us.
2.) Do I have to wear lingerie?
Absolutely not! We are a creative team and our goal is for you to have fun and feel good about yourself. Your outfit all depends on your personality and what you feel comfortable with. We have a BUNCH of outfit ideas to work with that are not just lacy little underwear! Head over to our blog about choosing outfits to see some more ideas!!
3.) Do you have payment plans?
We offer a few payment options! There is a booking retainer to book your shoot, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the day of the shoot! If you want more time to be able to pay off the shoot, you can schedule it a few months out, and pay it off in payments. Let us know if this is something you would want to set up.
4.) Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup are included in all of our boudoir shoots! We think it’s important for you to feel pampered on the day of your shoot and getting your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that! Our amazing and professional team can help you complete your look, whether it’s a “I just woke up this way” look or Full on Glam. Bring any ideas you want for your makeup and our team will use it for inspiration.
5.) Do you Photoshop my images?
We do edit images for light, exposure and color balance. However, we DO NOT edit out anything that is permanent. We think that it can be damaging to have a boudoir session done, and then edit out parts of yourself that make you who you are! Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty also means not photoshopping out parts of yourself you don’t like. If there are parts of yourself that you are learning to love and aren’t thrilled about, that is okay! We are skilled in posing and lighting to make you look your absolute best and bring out your shine!
6.) Where should I buy outfits?
There are a few places to buy outfits and it depends on what you are getting and the style of your shoot! Here is a long list to choose from with different styles and sizing! Victoria’s Secret, Forever21, Adoreme.com, Torrid, eberjay.com, Aerie, foreveryourslingerie.ca, hipsandcurves.com, jasminestaceycollection.co., us.honeybirdette.com, tailoredbodyjewelry.com, teaseproductions.com/designandproduction/costumedesign/. If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, let us know and we might know where to get it.
7.) What type of print products do you offer?
We offer a variety of products, including Luxury albums, Folio boxes and Framed Prints. Our Luxury album with custom Glided siding is one of our favorite products. It comes in a Handmade Couture box and our guests say they love to flip through them. The album serves as a reminder of the transformation they had after their boudoir shoot.
8.) Do you offer digitals?
All of our packages include some sort of print product, but there is also an A La Carte list that you can choose from. Included in this list we have an option to add digital images. These digital images come in a password protected online gallery, for you to download and share.
9.) I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?
Nerves are all part of the experience! Trust us. It would probably be weird if you weren’t nervous. The nervousness in the beginning of your shoot makes your moment of “WOW” seeing your photos for the first time so much better!
10.) How many outfits should I bring?
This depends on your package. The Ruby package calls for 1-2 outfits while the Gold package is 3-4 outfits. We always recommend you bring more if you can’t decide and we can always help you make decisions at the shoot.
11.) Should I get to my shoot early?
You should always plan on getting to your shoot about 10 minutes early so we can talk about your outfits and colors and make a plan for hair and makeup!
12.) Where is your studio located?
We are located in Newtown, Connecticut. We love the peaceful and natural vibe of the town and look forward to sharing our community with you.
